Project description:
ART Engineering Inc. was retained by Shoalts and Zaback Architects. Inc. as the structural engineer of record for the design and construction review of a three (3) story apartment building located at 27 Wright Crescent in Kingston, Ontario. The structure consists predominantly of light frame construction supplemented by concrete masonry unit cores and fire separation. Once completed, the 40 unit apartment building will provide the community with 10 rent-geared-to-income units and 13 affordable housing units.
AEI services included:
Provide input during the preliminary design stage with regards to the structural system and coordination with other disciplines for a conceptual design.
Preliminary sizing of floor system, SFRS Lateral systems, foundations, and structural budgeting.
Preparation of a detailed structural design package and coordinating permitting.
Review of constructability and adjusting design as required to best suit site conditions.
Reviewing and commenting on shop drawings.
