Project description:
ART Engineering Inc. was retained by Inflector Environmental Services to provide structural engineering services for the construction of a multi-unit residential structure for students. The existing property consists of two (2) three-story brick masonry residential structures. The new residential tower is being constructed adjacent to the existing buildings which are to remain and be part of the new building. AEI’s scope of work included a demolition plan/procedure of the three-story addition on two residential buildings and the design of a temporary lateral restraint system of the existing interior wall to remain.
AEI services included:
• Demolition Plan:
Detailed site investigation to determine the geometry and details of the structural members of the buildings.
Drawing package including removal sequence and vertical shoring system to safely remove the additions.
• Lateral restraint system:
Design and drawings of a waler and tie rod horizontal bracing system for the remaining walls to resist applied wind pressures.
