Project description:
ART Engineering Inc. was retained by Aecon Construction Materials and Demolition Plus to provide structural engineering sevices for various aspects of the Quinte Skyway Bridge Project. The 850-meter-long multi-span bridge spans over a navigable waterway and is currently undergoing a major rehabilitation over a seven year period. The rehabilitation includes a full superstructure replacement and refacing/rehabilitation of the concrete piers.
AEI services included:
Demolition Plan:
Structural analysis of the existing girders to determine the safe execution and sequencing of deck removals and strict loading conditions.
Debris containment systems including system scaffold, suspended and rig mounted bins.
Crane rigging point locations for large girder sections removals.
Temporary girder restraint and rocker bearing restraints to accommodate removal sequencing.
Temporary Bearing Support System:
Design of temporary steel bearing supports/jack housings to be used over a multi-year period.
Jacking design and sequencing for installation of permanent bearings.
