Ottawa Light Rail Transit Project

ART Engineering Inc. has been commissioned by multiple contracting companies to act as a structural engineering consultant for the Ottawa Light Rail Transit (OLRT) project. Arguably the most important infrastructure project in Ottawa's recent history, the OLRT project will improve the transportation system in the nation's capital by allowing trains to travel through the downtown core, while improving existing infrastructure to support the new system.

We have provided specific finite element models of the original Lees Avenue Structure, Riverside Drive Structure, Hurdman (Rideau River) Structure, and the East Transit Way Structure. Each analysis was organized to accurately model non-traditional loading cases (rapid transportation of one bridge over another) or demolition tasks. Additional consulting services have included:

Canadian certification of the Italian Petrucco System (designed to jack a pre-constructed tunnel under an active rail line).
Concrete formwork and temporary access scaffold designs.
Bridge jacking procedures.
Accelerated bridge construction temporary shoring designs.
Roadway protection and temporary bridge designs.
Reinforced concrete slab & ramp designs.
Crane rail protection systems.
Structural member design and engineered system reviews.
QVE reinforcing steel inspections.
Tunnel jacking procedures.
